Dennis "Joe" Desmond, CPA, PLC
Dennis “Joe” Desmond, Jr., serves as President of Desmond CPA, PLC. Joe is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University and earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with an emphasis in accounting. Desmond has nearly 30 years of experience working in the public and governmental sectors and is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants (ISCPA), Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), and the Des Moines, Iowa Chapter of Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Desmond is licensed in Iowa, Missouri and New York and has served on the ISCPA Nonprofit Committee for over ten years (three years as Chair). Joe also served on the ISCPA Peer Review committee, which is charged with report acceptance and administration/rendering of disciplinary action to/for accounting firms within Iowa. In addition, he serves as a reviewer for many types of audits-- including both nonprofit and governmental organizations.
Joe spent several years with the Missouri State Auditor’s Office holding planning and oversight responsibilities for governmental audits prior to moving to public accounting with McGladrey & Pullen in Kansas City, Missouri. Joe and his family moved to Iowa in 2002 where he entered into a ten-year partnership with a local firm prior to founding Desmond CPA, PLC, an accounting firm specializing in tax, audit, payroll accounting, and internal processes for both individuals and businesses.
Desmond joined Gremler Wealth Management at its onset and serves as CFO with oversight for all accounting-related processes, is an active member of the GWM leadership team and has been engaged in personal and professional relationships with Mark Gremler and associates for over a decade.
Joe has served on the Board of the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce for over ten years, has held various executive roles including President, and is also a member of Norwalk Lions Club. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, and in preparing and enjoying various types of barbequed meals for family and friends.
